解説
当該削除部分の始点を終点の両方が示されなければならない．始点は要素 delSpanによって，終点は属性spanToにより示され る．
当該削除されているテキストは，少なくとも転記するに充分なほどには読 めるものでなければならない．全く読めないのであれば，要素 delSpanは使うべきではない．この場合には，要素gap を使い，転記できない単一のテキスト部分を示すべきである．この際，属 性reasonにより転記ができない理由が削除であることを示す ことができる．全てが読めるわけではないという場合には，要素 unclearを使い，確信が持てないが読めるひとつのテキスト部分 を示すべきである．詳しくは，11.3.7 Text Omitted from or Supplied in the Transcriptionを参照のこと． また，要素delSpanと要素gap, damage, unclear, suppliedとの関係については， 11.5.2 Use of the <gap>, <del>, <damage>, <unclear>, and <supplied> Elements in Combinationを参照のこと．
要素delSpanは，編集者や符号化する人による削除部分に使用さ れるべきではない．この場合は，要素corrまたは要素 gapが使われるべきである．
