To take one example, the Norwegian University Museums have been digitizing acquisition catalogues and grey documents using since 1992:

• custom SGML (now XML) application
• extract semantic information into event-based database
• use CRM (CIDOC "Conceptual Reference Model") concepts
• interested in moving towards TEI compatibility
